Ike Smith Named Sun Belt Player of the Week

The Eagles travel to Coastal Carolina Thursday.
NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced today that Georgia Southern senior Ike Smith has been named the league's Men's Basketball Player of the Week.
He is the second Eagle to earn the honor this season, joining Elijah McCadden, who won the award Nov. 26, and it is the third time in his career that Smith has been named the Sun Belt Player of the Week.
Smith made 10 of 18 from the floor and 5 of 10 from long distance in scoring a game-high 25 points at Georgia last Monday. He added a team-high six rebounds and an assist. Smith scored 20-plus for the 31st time in his career and moved into eighth on the Georgia Southern Division I career scoring list.
Georgia Southern opens a stretch of three road Sun Belt games in five days with a 7 p.m. contest at Coastal Carolina Jan. 2 on ESPN+.
