STATESBORO – Kara Spicer tallied 19 kills and five blocks to lead Appalachian State to a 3-1 (22-25, 25-23, 25-21, 25-17) Sun Belt volleyball win over Georgia Southern Friday night in Hanner Fieldhouse.
Eagles of the Match

Key Plays
With the score tied 18-18 in the first set, the Eagles scored five straight points, four of which came on Turner's serve. After App cut the margin to 24-22, Skylar Ball and Bryant blocked a Spicer attack to end the set and give the Eagles a 1-0 lead in the match.
Appalachian State (10-16, 6-7) rallied to win the next three sets despite falling behind 6-2 in the second frame. The Eagles led the set 22-18, but Appalachian State scored seven of the next eight points, thanks in part to two kills by Spicer, to tie the match 1-1.

Quotable from head coach Chad Willis
"First off, thanks to the 800 plus fans who came out tonight and made Hanner electric! It was a tough way to end the match, but I told the team how proud I was of our effort in sets 1 and 2. We really commanded those two sets and just came up short with some little execution things on our side. We're still learning what it takes to put complete matches together, but we feel good about the small strides we're making that will help us moving forward. Again, thanks to our fans - Eagle Nation showed out tonight, and we really appreciate the continued support!"
