
Eagles Respond Splitting with Appalachian State Friday

BOONE, N.C. — Georgia Southern defeated App State 3-1 (21-25, 25-20, 27-25, 25-14) on Friday. The Eagles used a 10-0 run in the fourth set and hit .556 in the frame to close out the match.

Alex Myers led the Eagles with 16.5 points, recording 11 kills and nine total blocks. Reagan Barth matched the team high with 12 kills and added 11 digs and five blocks. Lexi Duffy finished with 38 assists, eight digs, four blocks and one ace. Mayte Camacho collected a team-high 15 digs and added four assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
First Set
- The Eagles stayed even through the opening stretch, getting kills from Beka Pfefferkorn, Alex Myers and Reagan Barth and a Lexi Duffy ace before a 10-10 tie.
- App State moved ahead with four straight points from 10-10, then pushed the margin to 18-12 on a block by Chelsea Gilmore and Amelia Mancino.
- The Eagles cut into the deficit late, using kills from Alex Myers and Sam Bowron, a Reagan Barth/Alex Myers block and another Myers kill to get within 23-21.
- App State took the final two points, including a Bella Hutchens/Chelsea Gilmore block, to close the set 25-21.
