NEW ORLEANS – Georgia Southern Baseball's Seth Shuman has been selected to the All-Sun Belt Baseball Preseason Team following a vote of the league's head coaches. The Eagles were selected fourth in the East Division in the annual coaches' poll. Georgia Southern opens the 2019 season on the road against Auburn before returning home for 11 of its next 12 games. Shuman finished the 2018 season with an 8-5 overall record in 15 starts, cementing himself as Georgia Southern's Saturday starter. He fanned 95 while walking just 22 and holding opposing batters to a .261 average. Shuman threw three complete games with two coming against league opponents. He scattered five hits over nine innings on a bitterly cold April afternoon at Little Rock and backed that up with a three hitter in an elimination game win over UT Arlington in the Sun Belt Tournament.

Eagle Baseball hosts a free Little Eagles Baseball Clinic on Saturday, Feb 9 at J.I. Clements Stadium. The 2019 event features a baseball scrimmage, autograph session with Eagle baseball student-athletes and an on-field baseball kid's clinic. Georgia Southern opens the 2019 season on the road against Auburn on Feb 15-17 before returning to the friendly confines on Feb 19 against Georgia Tech. West Virginia comes to town for the first home series starting on Feb 22.
