
Eagles Soar Past Butler in Orlando

Eagles defeat Butler 6-1 to improve to 5-3 on the season, they will be back in action Thursday
STATESBORO, Ga. – Just 24 hours removed from taking on Rutgers in Orlando, the Georgia Southern women's tennis team was back in action facing off against Butler University. The Eagles defeated the Bulldogs 6-1 to improve to 5-3 on the season. The Blue and White improve to 1-1 on their spring break trip, with two matches remaining Thursday. With the win Tuesday afternoon head coach Sean McCaffrey's career win total creeps closer to No. 400, He currently sits at 395.
The Eagles began the afternoon off right sweeping the doubles point against Butler. The Blue and White used that momentum in singles play, winning four of the five points in straight sets. Freshman Mila Hartig continues to impress in her first season with the Eagles posting a 6-2 record. She started the scoring in singles play today with a 6-0 straight set victory. Paula Boixader joined the party just after Hartig, winning 6-1, 6-3 on court five to increase the Eagles lead to 3-0.
The Blue and White continued to pressure the Bulldogs as Ella Monsey added a straight set victory to clinch the match for the Eagles. The Eagles would win on courts one and two with Arianne de Winter and Emilia Bujan picking up the final two points for the Eagles Tuesday afternoon. The Blue and White will return to the courts for a doubles header against Chicago State and St. Norbert College, Thursday in Orlando. These will be the final two matches of the Eagles spring break road trip.
