STATESBORO, Ga - This week, Statesboro will see an influx of charter buses and new faces as the 2017 Sun Belt Conference Baseball Championship Tournament kicks off on Tuesday, May 23 for the top 10 conference teams.

However, Statesboro will also notice an unexpected change in landscape off of Fair Road by way of a 47-foot ferris wheel tucked between J.I. Clements Stadium and Hanner Fieldhouse.

Why? Georgia Southern University Athletics will host a Fan Fair, sponsored by the Georgia National Guard, as part of tournament festivities for one of America's Best Communities and its guests. The fan experience is an excellent way to enjoy time with the family and friends before going inside Clements to indulge in Division I baseball.

The Georgia National Guard Fan Fair will not only feature a Ferris Wheel, but will also boast the 'Ballistic' swing ride, a Hi-Striker for fans to test their strength and the most popular, classic carnival games such as the Shooting Gallery, Milk Cans and Knock Down Clowns.  In addition, children ages 12 and under will have access to the Georgia Southern Inflatables.

In between the sounds of cracked bats and whistling fast balls, tournament-goers will enjoy live music by Statesboro's own Chris Mitchell Band.

If that wasn't enough, guests will have a chance to buy food from restaurants such as  Domino's Pizza, 40 East Grill, Wings University, 4 and 20 Bakers, Daylight Donuts and El Jalapeno.

"We are excited to provide a fun and family-friendly atmosphere for our fans, and the fans of the Sun Belt Conference teams. The Georgia National Guard Fan Fair will be an enjoyable experience for everyone." said Gleen Hart, Associate Athletic Director for Georgia Southern University.

The Georgia National Guard Fan Fair will be open from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Friday; and from 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. The Fan Fair will be enjoyed by all ages and is free and open to the public. Fans can buy three rides for only $10, the cost of carnival games vary and the inflatables will be free.

No outside food or drink are permitted inside J.I. Clements Stadium; re-entry to the stadium is not permitted.
