DECATUR, GA. - Georgia Southern Baseball closed out the 2017 regular season on Saturday with a  13-3 rout of Georgia State. The Eagles did not trail on Saturday to avoid the sweep.
Seth Shuman worked five innings to improve to 7-0 on the season while
Logan Baldwin and
Ryan Cleveland each had three hits and two RBIs each.
Next up for the Eagles is the 2017 Sun Belt Baseball Championships in Statesboro. The Eagles play host to this year's tournament on Jack Stallings Field at J.I. Clements Stadium beginning on Tuesday. The No. 5 seeded Eagles will wait until Wednesday night at 7:30 to play their first game, facing No. 4 seed Louisiana.

Ryan Cleveland drove in one with a single through the right side while
Mason McWhorter knocked in two more with a double.
Bot 1st - GS 4 - GAST 2 - Georgia State got two in the bottom of the first off a pair of hits to cut the Eagle lead in half.

Tyler Martin hit an RBI single to center with runner on the corners to make the lead 5-2.
Top 4th - GS 8 - GAST 2 - A leadoff walk to
Evan McDonald opened the door for the Eagles to get three in the fourth inning. Martin and
Ryan Cleveland drove in runs with singles while
Jordan Wren knocked another in with a sacrifice fly.
Bot 4th - GS 8 - GAST 3 - Georgia State got another run in the fourth thanks to a wild pitch that moved a runner up a station. Ultimately an RBI single to center brought in the run to make it 8-3.
Top 8th - GS 10 - GAST 3 -
C.J. Brazil's leadoff walk came good with a
Logan Baldwin RBI single to center. Later in the inning, State loaded the bases full of Eagles with a walk to
Ryan Cleveland. A wild pitch plated the inning's second run of the frame.
Top 9th - GS 12 - GAST 3 -
Evan McDonald drove in two runs with a single through the right side with runners on second and third. The senior shortstop came around to score with a single up the middle from Baldwin.

The tournament begins on Tuesday with a pair of play in games at 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. Georgia Southern will be the No. 5 seed and face the No. 4 seed Louisiana on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. in the final contest of Day Two.
