Softball Sweeps Savannah State in Midweek Action

Kierra Camp throws her first collegiate no-hitter, Emily Snider knocks three homeruns for GS
STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern softball team swept Savannah State in a midweek doubleheader on Wednesday evening. The Eagles improve to 24-22 on the season after defeating the Tigers 8-1 in game one and 7-0 in game two. Senior Emily Snider had six RBI's on the night and junior Kierra Camp threw her first collegiate no-hitter in the second game, the first since May 7, 2014.
GAME ONE – GS 8, SSU 1
Lydia Witkowski knocked a ball back up the middle in the second to score India Davis and give GS the early lead. The Eagles were able to tack on another another three runs in the second after a handful of errors by Savannah State, making it 4-0.
Sophomore Macy Weeks hit her second homerun of the season, a solo shot over the right field wall in the bottom of the third inning to extend the Eagles lead. Savannah State struck back with a homerun from Cortni Jones in the fourth, but was not able to find any further offensive production.
Senior Emily Snider made the final score 8-1 after knocking her 14th homerun of the season in the fifth inning. Heather Felt (W, 2-0) came in to relieve Dixie Raley in the fourth inning and picked up her second win of the season.
GAME TWO – GS 7, SSU 0
Emily Snider continued her hot day at the plate in game two, knocking a solo homerun to get things going in the first inning and another three-run homerun in the fifth. Snider and Shelby Wilson each had two hits in game two while Morgan Robinson, Macy Weeks and India Davis had one.
Kierra Camp (W, 8-7) threw her first collegiate no-hitter, going all seven innings and striking out seven in the contest. That marks the 18th in school history and the first since Sarah Purvis threw one against Elon on May 7th, 2014 in the SoCon Tournament.

GS will travel to Mobile, Alabama to face South Alabama in a Sun Belt conference series this weekend. The Eagles will take on the Jaguars in a doubleheader Saturday, single game Sunday.
