Freshman Stefano Di Aloy named All-Sun Belt Singles Second Team and Player to Watch
STATESBORO, Ga. – Thursday evening, the Sun Belt Conference held their annual awards banquet for both the Men's and Women's Tennis teams in New Orleans, Louisiana. The conference gave out nine categories of awards for each of the men's and women's programs, with one Eagle taking home two different awards.
Stefano Di Aloy was named Sun Belt Player to Watch, as well as All-Sun Belt Singles Second Team. His 19-8 regular season singles performance was enough for the freshman to claim both these honors. Di Aloy held a six match winning streak during singles play which ranged almost a month in-between losses. Stefano heads into New Orleans with a four match winning streak, with three of those victories being over conference opponents.
Beginning his season primarily in the sixth position, Stefano has worked his way up playing in all spot's except the number one position. Stefano has also added seven doubles wins to his tally this season. The freshman mainly played next to Junior Artemie Amari in the number three positon. This combination accounted for a 5-4 record on the year.
Di Aloy and the Eagles will take the courts tomorrow evening, as they kick off their tournament run against UT-Arlington. The match will begin at 7:30 p.m. EST and will be broadcasted on the radio and through live stats.
