QUICK HITS
- After taking two of three at Troy, Georgia Southern returns to Jack Stallings Field at J.I. Clements Stadium for four games this week. The Eagles face Kennesaw State for the first of two games this season on Tuesday night at 6 p.m. The Eagles open a three-game set with Appalachian State on Thursday.
- The Eagles dropped the series finale at Troy 4-0 after winning the series on Saturday. Steven Curry saw his 18-game hit streak come to an end.
- Georgia Southern trails 12-10 in the all-time series with Kennesaw State, but took both games last season. The series began in 2007 and is tied 5-5 in games played in Statesboro.
- The Georgia Southern offense in 2017 has been buoyed by the bats of three freshman who have announced their presence with authority. Steven Curry leads the team with a .338 average from the leadoff spot in the order. Mitchell Golden is hitting .331 between shortstop and third base. Mason McWhorter is hitting .324 in 28 starts with eight doubles, and his first home run against College of Charleston.
- For the third-straight year, Georgia Southern Baseball has joined with the vs Cancer foundation to raise money to fight childhood cancer. Many members of the Eagle Baseball team will shave their heads following the Appalachian State as the team works to raise money for the foundation. Fans can contribute by vising https://team.vs-cancer.org/gs2017.
- In the win over College of Charleston, the Eagles "broke" the new manual scoreboard by tallying 19 hits (two more than the scoreboard had numbers for). Since then, Georgia Southern's partner Whitfield Signs created additional signs before the South Alabama series, allowing a maximum of 21 hits or runs to be displayed on the scoreboard.
- The 2017 Sun Belt Tournament is coming to Statesboro starting on May 23, 2017. The new format features two play in games that pit the No. 7 and No. 10 seeds and the No. 8 and No. 9 seeds for the final spots in the field of eight.

COMING UP NEXT
The Eagles will host Appalachian State in a three-game series starting on Thursday night. First pitch for the three game series is set for 6:30 p.m. The series runs through Saturday afternoon with teams getting Sunday off for Easter.
