Eagles collect 11 points in the second day of the Sun Belt Indoor Championships
STATESBORO, Ga. – The final day of the Sun Belt Conference Indoor Championships concluded with Georgia Southern gaining three spots since last season's championships. The Eagles were able to pick up 11 points during day two of the event with Bailey Willett getting on the podium in the 800 meter event.
"Another positive step for the lady Eagles of Georgia Southern," head coach Kelly Carter said. "The ladies really competed their hearts out for Eagle Nation at the Sun Belt Indoor Championships. I am very proud of the performances and the effort that was given today."
Willett placed third in the 800 meter event this afternoon with a 2:12.76 time. Ellunde Montgomery was able to give the Eagles two points during the mile event, and was also a part of the 4x400 meter team which included Bailey Willett, Breanna Thornton, and Desiree Blunt, giving the Eagles another two points.
Jamelia Owens placed sixth in the Shot Put event, breaking her previous school record of 14.69m. Her toss of 14.71m was enough to give the Eagles three points and help her advance the school record for the Shot Put.
