STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern softball team dropped an 11-1 decision in six innings to Middle Tennessee Sunday afternoon on the final day of the Eagle Round Robin.
The Blue Raiders got an unearned run in the first inning on a sacrifice fly from Lexi Cushing. Cushing struck again in the third inning when she launched a two-run home run to the opposite field to make it 3-0. MT tacked on another run via a solo home run in the fourth inning and scored two more with an RBI double to the gap.
In the bottom of the fourth inning, senior
Emily Snider led off with a home run to left-center field, her third of the weekend. The Raiders stretched the lead back to six runs by scoring on a wild pitch in the fifth inning and scored four more runs in the sixth inning to end the game early.
Dixie Raley (L, 2-2) got the start in the circle for the Eagles, taking the loss. Kiera Camp and
Heather Felt also saw action.
At the plate, Snider had the lone hit of the game while Snider,
Michelle Mazur and
India Davis all drew walks.

The Eagles (2-3) will head to Baton Rouge, Louisiana, for the Purple & Gold LSU Challenge. GS will take on No. 4 LSU and Central Arkansas over three days, playing both teams twice. The Eagles open with LSU Friday night at 7 p.m. (ET).
