Eagles Set for Semifinals Match against Coastal Carolina

Georgia Southern shifts focus to Coastal Carolina in semifinals
STATESBORO, Ga. – For the first time in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament the Eagles and Chanticleers will take the pitch against each other. The Chanticleers enter Friday following a 2-1 double overtime upset against No. 2 seed Texas State. The Eagles upset the No. 3 seed Troy just three days after the Trojans won 5-0.
The Eagles defeated the Chanticleers earlier this season 1-0 to open up conference play. Nicole Aussin scored the game winner that afternoon, as Lauren Karinshak and the Eagles back line shut the door on the Chants. Karinshak had eight saves in that game and posted her fourth clean-sheet of the season, and first of conference play. Sarah Price helped lead the Eagles into the semifinals on Friday, when she scored two goals against Troy. The senior now posts four goals on the season and leads the team with three game winners.
The Eagles will face off against Coastal Carolina in the semifinals Friday at 8:00 p.m. EST for a trip to the Sun Belt Conference Championships. It will be the first meeting between the Chants and Eagles in the conference tournament. The game will be broadcasted live on ESPN3.

The Chanticleers enter Friday evening after defeating the No. 2 seed Texas State Bobcats 2-1 in double overtime. Daniella Famili leads the Chanticleers with 9 goals and 6 assists on the season. The second team All-Sun Belt recipient helped the Chants level the score against Texas State, before Mackenzie Gibbs scored in the 105th minute to complete the upset. Rylee Atteberry has started in all 18 games for the Chanticleers this season posting a 10-6-1 record. Atteberry has allowed 22 goals and made 72 saves on the season.
