The Series
• Georgia Southern and South Alabama have met just three before with the Eagles winning 28-6 in 2014 in Mobile, Alabama, 55-17 in 2015 in Statesboro and 24-9 last year back in Mobile.
• The 2014 game was the first Sun Belt Conference contest in GS football history and was the first of eight league wins for the Eagles en route to a 2014 conference title and perfect league record.
• Last year the Eagles rushed for 304 yards and were bolstered by short scoring runs from L.A. Ramsby and Wesley Fields while the defense held the Jaguars to just three field goals.
• In the three contests, the Eagles have run for 1,128 yards on just 171 carries (6.6 YPC). Thirteen of 14 Eagle scores have come on the ground, as well.
• South Alabama has yet to top the 20-point mark in three games against the Georgia Southern defense and the average score has been 35.7 to 10.7 in favor of the Eagles.
Senior Day
• Eight players will be recognized before the game for their contributions to the program. Over the past four seasons, this group has seen the transformation of the program as it has gone from the FCS to bowl champions.
• These players have been a part of a league title and a bowl win. They made history with the 2014 Sun Belt Conference championship and again in 2015 by becoming bowl eligible for the first time. They did it all under three different full-time head coaches and two interim coaches during their careers.
• The Eagles are 27-5 in designated "Senior" games and have won seven of the past eight such contests after beating Troy last year in the season finale.
• The eight seniors (graduates and sixth years included) are the fewest of any FBS per a search of all 130 FBS school's official website. Those players are, in alphabetical order: Ross Alexander, Myles Campbell, Chris DeLaRosa, Matt Flynn, DeMarcus Godfrey, L.A. Ramsby, Darrius Sapp and Chris Washington.
• Of the eight seniors on the 2017 roster, two are playing the season as college graduates: Campbell and Matt Flynn.
• Two more seniors - Godfrey and Ramsby are scheduled to graduate in December and DeLaRosa, Sapp and Washington are on track to graduate in May 2018.
Military Appreciation Day
• All active and retired military members will receive a complimentary game ticket to the military appreciation football game on Saturday, and family members can purchase discounted tickets for $17 each. The military appreciation ticket offer is valid to all military personnel with a valid military ID on game day.
• In honor of Veteran's Day, there is still time to thank a veteran. Visit GSEagles.com/Tickets and use the promo code 'MILITARY' to donate a game ticket(s) to this weekend's military appreciation game.
Avoiding Four in a Row
• Georgia Southern will be looking to avoid a four-game losing streak at Paulson Stadium, something that's happened just one other time in the stadium's 34-year history, coming in 2008. That season, the Eagles went 2-4 at home.
• The Eagles enter Saturday's game at 0-3 at Paulson Stadium this season. No Georgia Southern football team has ever gone winless at Paulson Stadium, which opened in 1984. GS is 186-39 all-time at Paulson Stadium.
