MOBILE, ALA. – Georgia Southern Baseball dropped a 10-0 loss to South Alabama in eight innings of Sunday afternoon. The Eagles, however, won the series with wins over the first place Jaguars on Friday and Saturday. Next up is two games against North Florida this week, starting with a Tuesday night contest in Jacksonville. First pitch is set for 6 p.m.
CRUCIAL MOMENTS
BOTTOM 2ND – South Alabama loaded the bases with a hit and two walks then cleared the bags with a one-out grand slam. Third baseman Ben Gann did the damage for the hosts, hitting his fifth home run of the season.
BOTTOM 4TH – The Jags got three runs off two hits with two outs in the fourth to push the lead to 7-0.
BOTTOM 5TH – After a leadoff single in the fifth, the Eagles retired the next two batters. A double to left plated the eight run of the day for the Jaguars.
BOTTOM 8TH – Two walks to start the eighth put ducks on the pond for South Alabama. An error on a fielder's choice allowed one run to score, while a double to center scored the game-ending 10th run.
NOTES
- The game was called in the eighth inning due to the Sun Belt's Sunday 10-run rule.
- The Eagles were shutout for just the second time this season, the other was a 4-0 loss UT Arlington in the series opener.
- Georgia Southern tallied four hits in the game to fall to 29-19 on the year. South Alabama improves to 36-14 on the season.

Georgia Southern plays a pair of midweek games against North Florida this week. The first is a 6 p.m. contest in Duval County on Tuesday night. The Eagles and Ospreys will square-off again in Statesboro on Wednesday night at 6 p.m.
