DOTHAN, Ala. – Georgia Southern Cross Country logged a seventh-place finish on Saturday morning at the 2016 Sun Belt Cross Country Championship. Ashton Lord led the Eagles home with a 24th-place finish in her final Sun Belt Championship run to pace an Eagle squad which was covered by just 50 seconds. That spread was the closest finish for a team's top five finishers of any league team.

With the fourth-place finish, Georgia State has added a point for its school to in the Georgia Southern-Georgia State Rivalry Series. Next up for Georgia Southern is the 2016 NCAA South Regionals, hosted by Florida State University. The Eagles will run on Friday, November 11th at 8:30 a.m. (ET). The race will be held on the purpose built Appalachee Cross Country Course on the east end of the Capital City.
