Track and Field Picks up Two First Place Finishes

The Eagles finish first in the 400m and long jump at Clemson

CLEMSON, S.C.- This weekend, the Georgia Southern track and field team notched two first-place finishes in the two-day Bob Pollock Classic hosted by Clemson on top of sixth other top-5 marks.
Senior Jasmin Walker snagged the medal in the long jump with 5.93m while junior Nia Hill followed closely behind to earn fourth place. In addition Walker finished in fourth place in the 60 meter dash.
Finishing in 57.66 seconds, junior Asha Stegall clinched first place in the 400m.
Field events proved to be the Eagles strong suit this weekend, with freshman Jamelia Owens posting a career-best 13.35m throw in shot put, which was one meter more than her throw last week at Wake Forest and was good for third at Clemson. Junior Kelsey Arnold took fourth place in the weight throw, while senior Ashleigh Rasheed took fourth in the triple jump. Senior Keyanna Harris placed fifth in high jump to tie her career-best of 1.70m.

The team is back in action on Friday and Saturday, Feb. 13-14 at the Samford Invite in Birmingham, Alabama before they compete in the Sun Belt Indoor Championships later in the month.
