Pro Eagle Update: Howard Tosses Gem for Tourists

STATESBORO, Ga. – Former Georgia Southern Eagle and third round selection by the Colorado Rockies, Sam Howard, was stellar in his start last Tuesday for the Asheville Tourists and posted a Game Score of 65.
Howard limited the Rome Braves to one run over six innings and struck out seven batters in a no decision. He lowered his ERA to 3.86 after allowing just four hits and two walks.
Howard exited with a 5-1 lead after the sixth inning, but the Braves tied the game with a four-run seventh inning. The Tourists went on to win 8-5 after immediately responding with three runs in the bottom of the seventh.
Howard pitched for Georgia Southern from 2012-2014 and was a member of the 2014 Southern Conference Tournament Championship team. Howard tossed a complete game 7-0 shutout over #5 National Seed Florida State in the first game of the NCAA Tallahassee Regional that year and finished his career with a 16-14 record, a 4.01 ERA and 203 strikeouts.

Everett Teaford (2004-06) – Everett Teaford earned his fourth win of the season after limiting the Louisville Bats to one run over six innings on Thursday. Teaford struck out three batters and walked just two while limiting the Bats to three hits.
