Three Eagles Named All-Sun Belt Conference

TROY, Ala. – Three members of the Georgia Southern baseball team were selected All-Sun Belt Conference as voted on by the league's head coaches.
The Eagles had two selections on the All-Sun Belt Conference First Team in SP Evan Challenger and OF Aaron Mizell and one selection on the Second Team in C Chase Griffin.
Challenger posted a 5-3 record and ranks second in the Sun Belt with a 1.95 ERA. Challenger struck out 53 batters to just 20 walks over 74.0 innings. The redshirt sophomore lefthander allowed just 10 extra-base hits and held opponents to a .235 batting average.
Mizell, who was a second team All-SoCon selection in 2014, hit .289/.378/.545 with 12 doubles and 12 home runs in the regular season. Mizell tallied all 12 doubles and 9 of his 12 homers in league play. He was second on the team with a .289 batting average and led the squad in both runs scored (46) and RBI (40).
Chase Griffin hit .270/.310/.409 and finished second on the team with 13 doubles. Griffin hit five home runs, plated 30 runs and scored 25 runs. Griffin made 55 starts, 41 of which came behind the plate, and is one of the most experienced active players in the NCAA. Griffin ranks second among active players with 868 career at-bats.
