STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern baseball team will hit the road for their second-straight Sun Belt Conference series and will face the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns for the first time in program history.

The series opens with a 7 p.m. first pitch on Friday. Saturday's game will air on ESPN3 and will get underway at 7 p.m. The series wraps up with a 1 p.m. start on Sunday. All times are eastern.

The Eagles (17-13, 7-5) had the mid-week off after dropping a series to Texas State over the weekend. Georgia Southern fell in a one-run contest last Friday, 6-5, and won game two in the series 12-3 behind a solid outing from Tripp Sheppard. Sheppard (2-2) allowed one earned run and held the Bobcats to four hits over six innings.

The offense is hitting .270 after tallying 20 hits for the second time this season in the 12-3 victory over Texas State. Chase Griffin leads the team with a .319 batting average. Aaron Mizell has raised his batting average over .300 for the first time this season after a 9-game hit streak that ended last Sunday. Mizell leads the squad with eight doubles, three triples and eight home runs.

The Eagle pitching staff holds a 3.89 team ERA. Jason Richman has appeared in 18 of the team's 30 games this season and ranks 6th all-time in school history with 81 career appearances. Byron Yelverton has allowed just one earned run over 12.2 innings this season and holds a 0.71 ERA in 9 appearances out of the pen.

Head Coach Rodney Hennon will return to his usual pitching rotation and after a week of rest lefthander Evan Challenger (2-0) will once again climb the bump for the series opener. Righthander Tripp Sheppard (2-2) will start in game two, and lefthander Connor Simmons (1-1) will get the start in the series finale.

Louisiana (15-11, 7-4) will counter with freshman lefthander Gunner Leger in the series opener. Leger is 3-1 with a 3.63 ERA in seven starts this season. Senior righthander Greg Milhorn (1-0) will get the call in game two, and freshman righthander Evan Guillory (2-0) will start game three.

The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns (15-11, 7-4) have won their last two Sun Belt series and are coming off an 8-6 loss to #3 LSU on Tuesday. Louisiana took the final two games in both the Georgia State and Arkansas State series.

The Ragin' Cajuns rank second in the Sun Belt with a .280 batting average. Blake Trahan leads the team with a .380 batting average and has 10 doubles and one home run on the season. Joe Robbins and Dylan Butler are tied for the team lead with three home runs each.
