Cook Wins Shot Put at North Florida Twilight

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Samantha Cook won the shot put as the Georgia Southern Track and Field team posted 9 top-10 finishes at the North Florida Twilight on Friday.
Cook tallied her first ever event win and posted a new personal record with a throw of 12.20m in the shot put. The sophomore also set a new personal best in the discus throw and led the Eagles in the event with a toss of 35.15m.
Kelsey Arnold also competed in the two throws events and finished fifth in the hammer throw (46.16m) and 11th in the discus throw (30.32m).
The Eagles got their second podium finish in the 3000m steeplechase. Rebecca Parker came in third in the event with a time of 12:19.62.
Ashleigh Rasheed and Asha Stegall posted a pair of 9th place finishes on the day. Rasheed tallied a distance of 11.22m in the triple jump, while Stegall ran the 400m dash in 56.67.
Nia Hill bested her time from the previous meet and finished 10th in the 400m hurdles in just her second time competing in the event.
Jordan Fordham finished 10th in the 100m dash with a time of 12.18, while Rian Mobley-Luke improved on her time from the UNF Spring Break in the 100m hurdles (15.72).
Track and Field returns to competition April 23-25 at the Penn Relays.
