Baseball Returns Home to Host Georgia on ESPN3

STATESBORO, Ga. – The Georgia Southern baseball team returns home from its first road game of the 2015 season to host the Georgia Bulldogs in a three-game weekend series at J.I. Clements Stadium.
The series, which opens on Friday with a 6 p.m. first pitch, will air on ESPN3. The two teams will continue the series on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
The Eagles dropped a pair of mid-week games against The Citadel, 3-2, and at North Florida, 5-4, after winning a weekend series over West Virginia. GS holds a 5-4 record after nine games in 2015.
Kody Adams leads the team with a .353 batting average and has scored a team high eight runs. Adams has a double, a triple, four RBI and seven walks in nine starts. Senior catcher Chase Griffin ranks second on the team with a .333 batting average. Griffin has 12 hits in 36 at-bats with two doubles, a triple, a home run and five RBI.
Redshirt Sophomore Evan Challenger (1-0) will make his third-straight Friday night start against The Bulldogs. Challenger allowed two runs over 4.1 innings and received a no decision in the Eagles' 7-4 win against West Virginia last Friday.
GS will round out the weekend rotation with senior Tripp Sheppard (0-1) and freshman left hander Connor Simmons (1-0).
Georgia (6-1) will counter with sophomore Robert Tyler (1-0), junior lefthander Ryan Lawlor (2-0) and junior David Sosebbe (2-0).
Georgia holds a 50-43-1 all-time record in the series, but the Eagles have won the last two weekend series. GS opened the 2014 season with a 9-3 in Athens, Ga. and took the series finale 18-4.
