Men's Tennis Wins across the Board on Friday

The Eagles win a combined 10 singles matches at home and at NC State
STATESBORO, Ga. – The men's tennis team had a successful day on Friday, notching a total of 10 singles victories between the Georgia Southern Championship at home and the NC State Invitational in Raleigh, N.C.
In doubles play Adam Brown and Nico de Groof became the lone Georgia Southern pair to make it to the semi finals, dominating two matches 6-1 and 6-2 respectively. The two are set to play Castellanos and Wilton of Kennesaw State on Saturday.
Marvin Spiering and Andre Johnson progressed to the quarter finals of the singles tournament.
WHAT FRESHMEN ANDRE JOHNSON AND MARVIN SPIERING SAID
On the GS tournament so far
AJ: "There are really good players here but no one that we can't beat. We just have to always keep our focus and play the things we learned in practice and I think that should more or less get us through."
On the key to winning matches
AJ: "Playing our games, playing aggressive tennis. Solid, nothing flashy. We are always trying to finish at the net and force errors upon our opponents."
On the goals for the weekend
MS: "We want to win, fight until the end, play our game and figure out what we have to do to beat our opponent."

On the first day at NC State
"Overall it was a very positive day on the court; all four of them (Lanne, Kerrigan, Landin, Alcala) were able to put into match play what we have been working for the last few weeks. On top of that, we were able to find new ways to win. The guys fought hard and represented Southern with a lot of heart. We need to keep working on how we start out matches, because we are still starting a bit flat and slow. I want to highlight Eddie Landin today who beat a strong player from UNC and continues to show that we are dangerous and can beat anybody in the country."
