
Eagles Victorious Over College of Charleston And SCAD

RESULTS
Statesboro, Ga. – The Eagles won big Saturday at the RAC Aquatics Center as they defeated College of Charleston 162 - 126 and Savannah College of Art and Design 181 – 94.
"It's sometimes a tough transition from Christmas break training to training once classes start again, but I think we did a nice job today," said Head Coach Nate Kellogg. "Our times were solid but I thought we were a little flat energy wise. Next week will be a great meet as we honor 10 seniors. It's always a bittersweet, but we are looking forward to competing for those seniors."
The meet started in high style as the Eagles won the 200 medley relay. Christina Moran, Abbie Lavallin, Megan Heller and Elaina Lanson touched in 1:46.89. Teammates Lauren Campbell, Allyn Case, Rebecca Alves, and Kaylyn Thomas finished 3rd in the event with a time of 1:50.31
It was a 1-2-3 sweep for the Eagles in the 200 free as Madison Lichtefeld took 1st in 1:55.56, Kylee Parsons finished 2nd in 1:55.79, and Mae McWhorter was 3rd in 1:58.80. In the 1000 free, Parsons finished 2nd in 10:27.19 and Amber Juncker was 3rd in 10:44.81.
Moran took top honors in the 100 back, touching in 59.16 while teammate Sarah Schwartz was 3rd with a time of 1:00.82. The 100 breast saw Lavallin set the pace with a time of 1:06.44 with Case finishing 3rd in 1:08.01. In the 200 fly, Campbell was victorious with a time of 2:07.54.
Lanson continued her winning ways as she took 1st in the 50 free, touching in 23.49 and the 100 free with a time of 52.12. Moran and Campbell combined to finish 1-2 in the 200 back. Moran touched in 2:05.56 while Campbell finished in 2:09.68.
In the 200 breast, Lichtefeld won with a time of 2:25.57 and teammate Case finished 3rd in 2:30.85. The 500 free was dominated by the Eagles as they finished 1-2 in the event. Parsons touched first in 5:10.21 and Juncker was 2nd in 5:12.64.
The 100 fly was won by Heller who touched in 58.34 with teammate Anna Battistello in 3rd with a time of 59.36 In the 400 IM it was another clean sweep as Katlyn Jones took 1st in 3:44.46, Campbell was 2nd in 4:35.77 and Case was 3rd in 4:42.96.
In the 1 meter diving event, Erin Hembree was victorious with a score of 229.8. The nearest competitor, Megan Norton from College of Charleston, scored 217.5. Teammate Chloe Cotter was 4th with a total of 157.35 In the 3 meter dive, Hembree finished 3rd with a score of 199.13 while Norton won the event with a score of 222.75.
"Going in to the meet, we did not know if Erin would be able to dive as she's battling an injury. For her to perform the way she did was just awesome," said Assistant Coach/Diving Coach David Giambra. "Chloe joined our team four days ago having been a diver in high school, but she hasn't dove in 4 years. They both put together strong lists and executed well."
The meet concluded with the 200 free relay. The Eagles were victorious as teammates Moran, Parsons, Thomas, and Lanson combined for a time of 1:37.57.
The Eagles return to the RAC Aquatics Center Saturday January 24th at 1 p.m. for their final home meet of the season, and thus senior day, against University of North Florida.
