
Men's Tennis Opens Fall Slate This Weekend

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern men's tennis team opens its 2014-15 season and the fall tournament schedule on Friday. The Eagles will split the squad in two and compete in the Seahawk Invitational and the Mercer Bear Gridiron Classic this weekend.
Seahawk Invitational
Date – Sept. 12-14

Zieziula Marks Fifth Season at GSU
Georgia Southern's Nick Zieziula begins his fifth season at the helm of the men's tennis program. Zieziula joined the Eagles in the summer of 2010 after serving as an assistant coach at Central Florida for two seasons. Zieziula led the Eagles to one of the greatest turnarounds in program history taking them from a 3-20 record in 2012 to an 11-9 mark in 2013, the first winning season since 2009.
Eagles Add Five to Roster
The Georgia Southern men's tennis team added five student-athletes, three freshmen and two juniors, to the roster. Daniel Casablancas (Universitat Oberta de Catalunya) and Ristomatti Lanne (Lander University) both transferred to Georgia Southern while Joan Carles Alcala Llinares, Jose Eduardo Landin Lopez and Pradeep Raja join the Eagles after successful high school careers.
2014-15 Campaign and First Sun Belt Season
The Georgia Southern men's tennis team is set to begin the first of five weekends of fall competition. The Eagles will host two home tournaments, the Georgia Southern Championships on Oct. 24-26 and the Georgia Southern Round Robins on Nov. 7-9, after three weekends of competition away from Statesboro. The Eagles are also embarking on their first season in the Sun Belt Conference and will face their first Sun Belt foe in dual play on Feb. 20 at Troy.
