Pro Eagle Update, Roache Hits First Homer

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern baseball has seven former Eagles currently playing professional baseball. Below is an update on those that have started their seasons.
Chris Beck, Birmingham Barons: Chris Beck is 1-1 with a 7.20 ERA after two starts with the Birmingham Barons. Beck made the opening day start for Chicago White Sox' Double-A squad and allowed just two runs and four hits over five innings in a road win. His first home outing of the year didn't go as well, and Beck left after allowing six runs on nine hits in a loss to Jacksonville on Wednesday.
Andy Moye, Huntsville Stars: Andy Moye left after 1.2 innings in his first start of the year for the Huntsville Stars and is currently on the 7-day disabled list. Moye allowed two hits and no runs in the win over Jacksonville.
Matt Murray, Wilmington Blue Rocks: Matt Murray is 0-1 in three relief appearances for the Class A Advanced Wilmington Blue Rocks of the Carolina League. Murray has allowed just two runs over a combined 7.2 innings this season.
Shawn Payne, Augusta GreenJackets: Shawn Payne is off to a hot start for the Augusta GreenJackets and has a hit in five of his first six games this season. Payne is hitting .348 with a double for San Francisco's Class A team. Payne has two hits in three of his last four starts and was two for five with a run scored last night.
Victor Roache, Brevard County Manatees: Victor Roache hit his first home run of the year on Tuesday and was one for four with a RBI last night. Roache is hitting .269 with two doubles and five RBI in seven games for the Brevard County Manatees.
