STATESBORO, Ga.- Georgia Southern women's tennis took down University of Akron 4-1 today at the Wallis Tennis Center. The Eagles improve their record to 8-9.
The Eagles quickly secured the doubles point. At No. 2 doubles, Stephanie Woods and Giulia Riepe took down Karolina Maksimava and Ksenia Berestetska, 8-1. In the No. 2 doubles position, Jordana Klein and Mary Phillips Smith defeated Martina Zerbola and Madison Cohen 8-1.
In singles play, senior Paola Garrido earned a win at No. 1 singles, defeating Olga Shkundina, 6-2, 6-0. Mary Phillips Smith beat Caroline Harpaintner at No. 6 singles, 6-2, 6-0. Daria Vasekina clinched the win for the Eagles by taking down Martina Zerbola 6-1, 6-3.
The Eagles return to action on Sunday, March 30th, at 10am against USC Upstate at the Wallis Tennis Center.
