Griffin Named Preseason All-Conference, Eagles Picked Fifth in Preseason Poll

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern baseball team was selected to finish fifth in Perfect Game's Southern Conference Preview.
The Eagles are picked to finish behind Appalachian State and Furman. Western Carolina and The Citadel were the top two teams, respectively, in the poll. Elon, Samford, UNCG, Wofford and Davidson rounded out the predicted order of finish.
Chase Griffin was picked Preseason All-Conference and was the Perfect Game's choice for the top catcher in the league. Griffin was also listed as the fifth-best 2014 draft prospect in the conference. Teammate Sam Howard was picked as the top draft prospect.
Griffin and Howard along with the rest of the squad will be on the field at J.I. Clements Stadium later today. GSU will compete in intrasquad scrimmages Friday, Saturday and Sunday as they continue to prepare for the upcoming season.
