STATESBORO, GA. – Georgia Southern Men's Soccer has named
Phil Boerger as goalkeepers coach for the 2014 season. Boerger joins the Eagles after stints at Syracuse and the University of Jamestown.
A veteran of 50 NCAA Division I contests at two different institutions, Boerger played the first three years of his career at the University of Evansville before transferring to Syracuse University for the 2011 season. For his career, he recorded a 1.35 goals against average and nine shutouts in over 4,000 minutes of game action.
Boerger worked the 2013 campaign at the University of Jamestown in his hometown of Jamestown, North Dakota. Prior to that, Boerger served as undergraduate assistant coach at Syracuse University where he earned his Bachelors of Arts degree in May of 2013.
He holds the USSF "D" Coaching License and now resides in Statesboro.
Boerger replaces Ryan Lewis who recently accepted a coaching position with Ole Soccer Academy in Wellington, New Zealand.
