New Orleans, La. --- Georgia Southern junior defender
Toby Nevile was named the Sun Belt Defensive Player of the Week on Tiesday afternoon (September 23rd), as announced by the conference office.
For Nevile, he scored his first career goal in the opening 20 minutes against Jacksonville last Monday evening en route to a 2-1 victory over the Dolphins. A member of the Eagles for now his third season, it would be his first goal for the squad in over 40 career appearances. Nevile, a captain for the Eagles, was also instrumental in holding four straight clean sheets to start the season, a feat that no Georgia Southern team has achieved.
With the award, Nevile is now the second Eagle to receive a weekly conference award, as his teammate Noah Holmstrom garnered the award during the first week of the season.
The Eagles next take on the College of Charleston Cougars tonight at 7 PM on the road in non-conference play before returning home to take on #12 Marshall in the first ranked matchup in program history on Sunday, also at 7 PM.
