Men's Tennis Takes On FAU Owls This Friday

STATESBORO, GA.- Georgia Southern men's tennis hosts the Florida Atlantic University Owls this Friday, January 17, at 12pm at the Wallis Tennis Complex. This dual match marks the first home competition of the spring for the Eagles.

"We are very excited to open our home slate against FAU, and to showcase our facility upgrades that we have had since last spring," said head coach Nick Zieziula. "We are grateful for the generosity of Tim Wallis who donated our new scoreboard and we are certainly doing everything we can in preparation for our first dual match with it to be sure we light up some W's on it. We saw some of the FAU squad in the fall so we know that they are a deep team a solid all the way through. It is going to be a battle, especially with both squads coming off a loss and looking for their first win."

Last time out, the Eagles suffered a tough loss to Georgia Tech. Freshman Christian Kerrigan was able to secure a win for Georgia Southern, defeating GT's Anish Sharma, 6-5, 6-1. Despite the loss, the Eagles performed well.

The Owls last competition resulted in a loss as well. FAU was swept 7-0 by the University of Miami on Sunday, January 12th.

Fans can cheer on the Eagles at 12pm on Friday afternoon at the Wallis Tennis Complex, located directly in front of Hanner Fieldhouse.
