STATESBORO - Georgia Southern men's tennis placed four student-athletes on the 2025 Collegiate Sports Communicators Academic All-District Tennis team, announced today by the organization.
Seniors Pol del Castillo, Laurent Julia Calac and Dimitris Paliouras all earned spots on the squad and were joined by junior Matthew Mitchell. To qualify for the team, student-athletes must maintain a 3.50 or better GPA. it is the second straight season in which the Eagles have placed the maximum allowable of four student-athletes on the All-District squad.
Paliouras and del Castillo both earn Academic All-District honors for a third straight year. A native of Tarragona, Spain, del Castillo carries a 3.79 GPA in mechanical engineering and earned All-Sun Belt singles and doubles honors this season for the Eagles. Paliouras, meanwhile, carries a 3.75 GPA in information technology and the Thessaloniki, Greece, native also earned All-Sun Belt singles and doubles honors. Both student-athletes will now advance to national balloting for possible Academic All-America honors, which will be released on Wednesday, June 4.
Mitchell earns All-District honors for a second straight year as the Vidalia, Ga., native carried a perfect 4.0 GPA in accounting. Calac, meanwhile, earns his first career All-Distict honor as the Reutlingen, Germany, native carried a 3.77 GPA in information technology.
