Former Eagle Teaford Returns to the Majors with Scoreless Outing

STATESBORO, Ga. - Former Georgia Southern Eagle pitcher Everett Teaford marked his return to the major leagues on Sunday. Teaford, who pitched for the Eagles from 2004-2006, made his 2013 Kansas City Royals debut over the weekend.

Appearing in his first major league game since Sept. 30 at Cleveland, the former Eagle found himself in a similar situation in his first game of 2013. On the road against the Indians and in the final contest before the All-Star break, the left-hander tossed two-thirds of an inning and allowed just one hit and no runs in his 45th career game.

Teaford was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Saturday after Donnie Joseph was optioned back to the Storm Chasers. In Triple-A the former Eagle held a 3-2 record with a 2.88 ERA in 23 games and posted 60 strikeouts to just 23 walks in over 59 one-third innings.

The Royals return to action after the All-Star break on July 19th and will host the Detroit Tigers at 8:10 ET.
