
Hess Named to All-Tournament Team

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern senior pitcher Justin Hess was selected to the 2013 All-Southern Conference Tournament team.
Hess was the Eagles' lone section on the 12-man All-Tournament team after throwing 11 scoreless innings over two appearances. Hess tossed his first career complete game shutout in the tournament opener against the College of Charleston and threw two scoreless innings two days later in the second game against Elon.
Hess combined struck out 13 batters and walked just two while holding opponents to a .135 batting average. The righthander was also an All-Tournament selection in 2012.
Tournament Champion Elon had five selections on the team, while runner-up The Citadel had three. Hector Crespo from Appalachian State, Tyler White from Western Carolina and Julian Ridings from Western Carolina rounded out the selections.
The Citadel's Joe Jackson went 3-for-4 in the championship game en route to being name the Most Outstanding Player. Jackson finished the tournament hitting .769 and is the first player in tournament history from the losing team to win MOP honors.
