STATESBORO, Ga -- The Georgia Southern Men's Tennis team (3-3) is headed into conference play on Saturday, March 2 when they take on Wofford College (2-5) at the Hanner Tennis Complex at 1 p.m. The Eagles will resume regular season play on Sunday, inviting Bethune-Cookman (5-4) to Statesboro, Ga. for a 1:30 p.m. match up. The first 50 fans to enter the gate at Saturday's match against Wofford will receive a True Blue towel.
"Obviously with Wofford, we're very familiar with them. We saw them in the regular season last year which was a disappointing loss and then got a little revenge in the play offs, in the first round. They're a very feisty team, they're pretty young but we need to stick with our game plans and we had a good week of preparations for that," said Head Coach Nick Zieziula.
The Eagles are coming off a tough loss against University of Central Florida last weekend. In a match that lasted over four hours, the Eagles came out firing and claimed the doubles points with wins by Matthijs Verdam and Oliver Webb on court two and Rayane Djouad and Marco Osorio on court one. The team continued their lead early into the singles portion of the match thanks to wins by Albert Codina Sala and Oliver Webb on court three and four but could not hold onto the lead and fell 4-3.
Wofford is coming off a 7-0 loss against Charlotte while Bethune-Cookman's last match was a 6-1 win against Webber International.
The Eagles will also be hosting and honoring several alumni during Saturday's match.
