STATESBORO, Ga. – After a winning their season-opener at home, the Georgia Southern Women’s tennis team (1-0) is changing their scenery and traveling to Alabama this weekend for two matches against tough opponents. The Eagles face University of Alabama Birmingham on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. (9:30 a.m. CT) and then continue on to play against Auburn (1-1) on Sunday for a 1 p.m. (12 p.m. CT) match up.
“It has been several years since we faced UAB and it is always nice to play people we don’t usually come across,” said Head Coach Amy Bonner. “Auburn is very strong and they've been off to a successful start this spring. They are always a tough opponent.”
The Tigers beat No. 65 DePaul in the consolation match at the 2013 ITA Kick-Off Weekend last weekend.
The Eagles are coming off a 6-1 win against Presbyterian College last Sunday with all but one match being determined in straight sets.
