Swimmers Take 4th at the Wingate Fall Frenzy

CHARLOTTE, N.C.- Georgia Southern swimming secured 4th place at the Wingate Fall Frenzy this past weekend with a team score of 1030.5. College of Charleston, Gardner-Webb, and Queens University of Charlotte finished ahead of the Eagles, but eight other schools trailed behind GSU in the final rankings.

On Saturday (day two), the Eagles earned quite a few top ten finishes. In the 200 Medley Relay, Eagles Christina Moran, Megan Ostrom, Anna Battistello, and Elaina Lanson took 6th with 1:48.91. Amber Juncker and Lauren Campbell took 5th and 6th in the 400 IM, while Sarah Schwartz finished 9th in the B-Final of 100 Butterfly. In the 100 Breaststroke, Megan Ostrom captured 5th with 1:06.01 in the A-Final. Elaina Lanson finished just under a minute (59.76) and took 8th in the A-Final of 100 Backstroke. Kylee Parsons, Amber Juncker, Devan White, and Rebecca Alves secured 8th in the 800 Free Relay with 7:54.80.

Throughout the rest of the Frenzy, GSU continued to produce some great finishes. In the 200 Free Relay, Christina Moran, Megan Heller, Devan White, and Elaina Lanson landed 9th place with 1:40.36. Amber Juncker was able to lock in 5th in the 500 Free A-Finals, with a time of 5:05.68. In the 50 Free, Elaina Lanson finished 3rd just behind two College of Charleston swimmers at 23.90. In the 400 Medley Relay, Christina Moran, Megan Ostrom, Megan Heller, and Elaina Lanson finished in 3:56.52 taking 6th place. The Eagles gained another 6th place finish in the 200 Medley Relay with Christina Moran, Megan Ostrom, Anna Battistello, and Elaina Lanson . Amber Juncker landed 5th in the 400 IM, followed by Lauren Campbell in 6th. Sarah Schwartz was able to secure a time of 58.69 in the 100 Butterfly. In the 100 Breaststroke Megan Ostrom finished 5th with 1:06.01. Elaina Lanson took 8th in the 100 Backstroke, and the relay team of Kylee Parsons, Amber Juncker, Devan White, and Rebecca Alves also took 8th in the 800 Free Relay. Amber Juncker impressively took 4th in the 1650 Free with 17:40.02. 4th place was grabbed by Christina Moran in the 200 Backstroke, and Elaina Lanson snatched 6th in the 100 Free. Megan Ostrom took 5th in the 200 Breaststroke with 2:26.33, while Lauren Campbell ended up 6th in the 200 Butterfly. The 400 Free Relay team of Christina Moran, Rebecca Alves, Devan White, and Elaina Lanson finished 4th with a time of 3:34.38.

The Eagles next meet is January 11th, 2014 against UNC-Ashville.
