ASHEVILLE, NC- Georgia Southern swimming downs UNC Asheville this weekend with a final score of 157-90. The Eagles competed in 14 events.
"Coming off of 9 days of heavy training, I'm pretty happy with how we performed today," said head coach Nathan Kellogg. "It was good to see some people in different events and see where they are. We were a little sloppy and need to clean up our details."
The Eagles placed in the top two in almost every event. The relay team of Lauren Campbell, Amber Juncker, Rikki Babuka, and Christina Moran placed second in the 400 Medley Relay. Kylee Parsons placed first in the 1000 Freestyle, while Katlyn Jones took third. Christina Moran finished first in the 200 Freestyle. Elaina Lanson clenched first in the 50 Backstroke, and Megan Ostrom took first in the 50 Breaststroke. The top three places in the 200 Butterfly were secured by Katlyn Jones, Megan Heller, and Sarah Schwartz. Elaina Lanson was able to take the top place in the 50 Freestyle while Anna Battistello placed third. Kristen Bates led the 100 Freestyle and Kylee Parsons took third. In the 200 Backstroke the Eagles secured first and second. UNC Asheville's Alessandra Troncoso beat out the Eagles for first in the 200 Breaststroke, but Lauren Campbell and Catie Schmitz we able to earn second and third. Kylee Parsons and Hannah Rogers were one and two in the 500 Freestyle. Megan Heller and Anna Battistello placed first and second in the 50 Butterfly. Overall the Eagles dominated the Bulldogs, a great start to 2014 competition.
The Eagles' next meet is at home against Radford on January 18th.
