The Game
Georgia Southern hosts its first game of the 2013-14 season as Thomas University comes to Hanner Fieldhouse for an exhibition contest. Tipoff is set for 7 p.m. with free admission.

The Coach
Mark Byington joins the Eagles to start his first full season as a Division I head coach. The former top-assistant at College of Charleston, Byington was picked to succeed legendary coach Bobby Cremins for the final 11 games of the 2011-12 season after Cremins took a leave of absence. Byington went 7-4 in those games. That tenure featured a pair of three-game win streaks and a victory over Kent State in the ESPN Bracketbusters matchup with the Golden Flashes.

The Weather
Afternoon thunderstorms are predicted for Statesboro with a high of 81 on tap for Friday. Despite the rain outside, it is projected to be a chamber of commerce evening inside Hanner Fieldhouse.

The Eagles open the 2013-14 regular season next Friday against Columbia International. The Eagles and Rams open the season at 7:30 p.m. Before the season opener, Southern Pride will host a pregame concert which starts at 6 p.m. on the Hanner Fieldhouse floor.
