Eagles Drawn to Athens Regional

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Southern Conference Champion Georgia Southern Softball team will travel to Athens, Ga. for regional round of the 2012 NCAA Softball Championships. The Eagles open play on Friday as the No. 3 seed against North Carolina. Times for the games at the Athens Regional will be announced on Monday. Georgia and Coastal Carolina are the other teams in the Athens Regional.
The Eagles enter postseason play with a 42-18 record. The 2012 SoCon Softball Champions defeated College of Charleston on Sunday afternoon, 6-2 to capture the team's first postseason appearance since 2006. That year, GSU was sent to the Athens, Ga. Regional as well.
