Offense Shines in First of Three Scrimmages

STATESBORO, Ga. - Scooter Williams (Detroit, Mich.) and Stryker Brown (Dalton, Ga.) combined for nine hits at the top of the order to lead the Blue team to a 10-5 win over the White team in the first of three baseball scrimmages this weekend. Brown went five-for-five with three RBIs, while Williams finished the nine-inning scrimmage with four-straight hits.
Chris Beck (Jefferson, Ga.) pitched three full innings to help the Blue team jump out to a 3-1 lead. Beck faced 13 batters, struck out four and allowed just one unearned run on two hits. Josh Stevenson (Social Circle, Ga.) came on in the ninth with a two-run lead and set the White team down in order.
The White team tallied 13 hits to score their five runs and were led by T.D. Davis' (Evans, Ga.) four singles. Joining Davis, who picked up base hits in his last three at-bats, with three hits each were Michael Burruss (Marietta, Ga.) and Zac Lenns (Hilton Head Island, S.C.). Lenns scored three of the team's runs, and Burruss doubled in the opening run of the game in the first inning.

The Eagles return to the field tomorrow for a 12:15 p.m. scrimmage at J.I. Clements Stadium and will complete the weekend with an intersquad on Sunday.
