Georgia Southern Hosts UNCG on Saturday Night

STATESBORO, Ga. - The regular season enters its home stretch for the Georgia Southern Men's Basketball team on Saturday night with the Eagles playing host to UNCG at Hanner Fieldhouse. The game, scheduled for 7:30 p.m. closes out an evening doubleheader at the arena.
Head Coach Charlton "C.Y." Young and the Georgia Southern coaching staff will wear blue bowties for Saturday's game as part of the "On The Line Statement Week." Young joins over 100 college coaches wearing blue bow ties to raise awareness for prostate cancer. Prior to Saturday's doubleheader, Georgia Southern will hold the Hanner Tailgate with free food and drinks for all Georgia Southern students and ticket holders attending the baseball and basketball games. The tailgate runs from 3 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. Junior Eagle Club members will get into the game for free with their club ID.
Georgia Southern is 13-12 overall and 11-4 in league play, just two and a half games behind Davidson for first place in the SoCon South. The Eagles lead Wofford in the race for a bye in the SoCon Tournament by a game and a half.
Sophomore Eric Ferguson (Statesboro, Ga.) continues his push for SoCon Player of the Year honors against the Spartans on Saturday night. He ranks in the top five of five separate categories in the Southern Conference, while placing in the top-10 in two others.
UNCG leads the SoCon North behind 18.1 points per game from the league's leading scorer, Trevis Simpson. The Spartans lost their first three league games as a part of a 11-game skid that lasted all of December. Since January 12th, UNCG has won 10 of its last 11 games, including sweeps of College of Charleston, The Citadel, Chattanooga and Samford.
The final two games of the 2011-12 regular season take the Eagles again to Charleston for a game against the College of Charleston on Thursday night at 7 p.m. The regular season finale is two nights later at home against Davidson.
