Georgia Southern Travels to The Citadel

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern Men's Basketball returns to the hardwood on Saturday night with a trip to The Citadel starting at 7:05 p.m. The Eagles downed Wofford on Thursday night to move two games past the Terriers for second place in the SoCon South. Georgia Southern is .500 on the year at 12-12 overall and 10-4 in SoCon games.
Georgia Southern's turnaround in league play, adding nine victories to last year's win total, ties for the fourth largest turnaround in league history. The 2008-09 Citadel squad owns the largest turnaround in league history, winning 15 league games after winning one a year before.
Willie Powers III (Gainesville, Fla.) scores 19 points in the Eagles' double overtime win over The Citadel on January 23rd. He went 11-of-12 from the free throw line and dished eight assists in the 78-72 victory.
SoCon Player of the Year Candidate Eric Ferguson (Statesboro, Ga.) leads the Eagles with 15.4 points per game and ranks 22nd in the nation with a 56.7% mark from the field. Ferguson also leads the Eagles with 7.3 rebounds per game.
The Citadel dropped a 77-66 decision to Davidson on Thursday night behind Mike Groselle's 15 points. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 4-20 overall and 1-12 in the SoCon. Groselle leads the Bulldogs overall this year with 17.2 points per game as the only player for The Citadel in double figures.
Georgia Southern gets a week off before returning to action against UNCG inside Hanner Fieldhouse. The game on Saturday, February 18th, begins at 7:30 p.m.
