STATESBORO, GA. – After earning a victory over Webber International in the 2012-13 home opener, Georgia Southern Men’s Basketball is back on the road on Wednesday night for a trip to Kennesaw State. The Eagles downed the Warriors 87-63 on Friday night to pick up their first win of the season and face the Owls on Wednesday night at 7 p.m. at the KSU Convocation Center.
Wednesday’s game can be heard live on the Georgia Southern Radio Network with Chris Blair and Frank Kerns calling all the action. Pregame starts at 6:30 p.m. on the network’s flagship station 103.7-FM The Boomer locally and worldwide at GSEagles.com
Eric Ferguson leads the Eagles with 14.7 points per game including a double-double of 11 points and 10 rebounds against Charlotte. He has 879 career points and is poised to become the 39th member of the 1,000 point club at GSU.
Freshman Cleon Roberts has 14.0 points per game, reaching double-figure scoring in every game this year. Tre Bussey has scored in double-figures every game this year as well, posting 10.7 points per game on the campaign.
The Eagles will face Kennesaw State for the first time in program history on Wednesday night. Georgia Southern will get another first-time foe on Saturday evening as Southern takes on Maryland.
The Owls enter Wednesday’s home opener at 1-4 on the year, taking a 67-65 overtime victory over South Carolina State. KSU, however, has dropped its last three games, all played at the Eastern Kentucky Tournament including a 69-63 loss Towson on Sunday evening.
Markeith Cummings scored 13 points against Towson to become the all-time leading scorer at Kennesaw State. He has 1,693 career points and is scoring 18.0 points per game in the team’s five contests this year. Three owls are averaging in double-figures with Aaron Anderson ranking as the squad’s top rebounder with 8.6.
On Saturday night, GSU visits Maryland for a 7 p.m. tilt inside the Comcast Center in College Park.
