Baseball Signee Selected in 48th Round of 2011 MLB Draft

SECAUCUS, N.J. - Georgia Southern Baseball signee Sam Howard of Cartersville High School was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 48th round of the 2011 MLB Draft today, June 8th. He signed with the Eagles in the fall to play for GSU in the 2012 season.
Howard helped his team to a 26-6 season and an appearance in the state quarterfinals this season. The left-handed pitcher started nine games in 2010 and went 4-0 with a 2.75 ERA and 39 strikeouts. Howard also pitched in the Perfect Game Southeast Top Prospect Showcase in 2010 and was named to the Rawlings Top Prospect List.
