Chris Beck Named "Primetime Pitcher of the Week"

STATESBORO, Ga. - Georgia Southern's Chris Beck was named the "Primetime Pitcher of the Week" by CollegeBaseball360.com. The sophomore tallied two wins and set a Southern Conference record with 22 strikeouts combined in the tournament.
Beck allowed just one walk in the entire tournament and tallied 17 innings in two starts. The Jefferson, Ga., native opened with 13 strikeouts against the College of Charleston, allowing one earned run on five hits over eight innings of work.
He threw 125 pitches over his first start and came back on Sunday with a complete-game shutout in the championship game to hand Georgia Southern its fifth SoCon Tournament Championship. Beck did not walk a single batter over his nine innings and struck out nine batters on 109 pitches. He allowed just three hits, all singles, which came after two outs were all ready recorded in the inning.
Beck and his Eagle Baseball teammates travel to the Columbia Regional to face South Carolina at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 3rd.
