Baseball to Conclude Series with Davidson Today at 4 p.m.

STATESBORO, Ga. - The Georgia Southern Baseball team (29-21, 16-10) concludes its three-game series with Davidson (18-28, 8-20) and the 2011 home slate of games today, May 16th, at 4 p.m. The Eagles go for the series sweep at J.I. Clements Stadium after taking both games of a doubleheader on Friday, May 13th.
GSU scored a combined 10 runs in its final three frames at the plate to complete a sweep of the weather-delayed doubleheader. The starting pitchers in both contests set the tone for the Eagles with quality starts on the mound. The bats put the game away after taking leads in the sixth inning of both games.
Georgia Southern came from behind to defeat Davidson 7-4 in game one. After five scoreless innings, home runs by both squads broke open the shutout in the sixth inning. Victor Roache (Ypsilanti, Mich.) hit his 25th home run of the season to give GSU a 3-2 lead. The Eagles scored seven runs over their final three frames to earn the victory.
GSU won game two 5-2 to complete the doubleheader sweep. The Eagles broke open a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning and shut down the Wildcats over the final three frames for the win. The contest was delayed in the top of the second inning, when it was tied at 0-0, for over two and a half hours and ended after midnight.
