Eric Phillips Named Southern Conference Baseball Player of the Month

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Southern Conference Office named Eric Phillips (Carrollton, Ga.) Baseball Player of the Month for all games played in March. The junior infielder hit .433 with 13 RBIs in 18 games and joins Lex Rutledge of Samford, who was named Pitcher of the Month.
Phillips recorded a hit in all but his last game in March and had eight multi-hit games. The junior exploded in the Eagles' sweep of Furman and had nine hits in 12 at-bats. He also drove in two runs in games two and three of that series. Phillips walked 13 times that month and stole seven bases, including two in one game at Charleston.
The junior shortstop is currently hitting .431 with three home runs and 23 RBIs. He is slugging .603 with a .514 on-base percentage. Phillips is second on the team in doubles with nine. He currently leads the SoCon in hitting and is second in on-base percentage.
