STATESBORO, Ga. - After picking up Southern Conference and Louisville Slugger's National Player of the Week honors on Monday, April 18th, Victor Roache (Ypsilanti, Mich.) earned two more awards for his five-home run week. Roache was selected as a member of the College Baseball Foundation's National All-Star Lineup for the Week and a CollegeBaseballInsider.com Regional Player of the Week.
The sophomore has hit a big fly in eight of his last 10 games and in five-consecutive contests. He also leads the NCAA with 18 total long balls after hitting a two-run homer in the fourth inning of Sunday's 16-13 win over Western Carolina.
Roache, who played errorless defense in the outfield last week, was one of 12 players honored by the College Baseball Foundation. He also represented the southeastern region on CollegeBaseballInsider.com's weekly awards. Both announcements were released on this week.
Roache and the Georgia Southern Baseball team welcomes Southern Conference Leader Elon for Military Appreciation Weekend, April 22nd-24th. All military members, active, reserve or retired will be granted free admission to all three contests this weekend when they present a military I.D. The Baseball team will unveil camouflage hats and will wear red, white and blue wristbands in honor of our nation's military members.
Georgia Southern Baseball games can be heard live on Eagle 102.9 FM and are also available online at GeorgiaSouthernEagles.com/Eaglevision with broadcasts beginning 30 minutes prior to first pitch. Ryan Chambers of the Georgia Southern Radio Network will call all the action.
