"Pack the House in Pink" Set for Special Doubleheader Feb. 5"

STATESBORO, Ga.- Most fans have their heart set on being a "True Blue" Eagle, but on Saturday, February 5th, Georgia Southern Athletics wants "pink" to rule the day. The sixth annual "Pack the House in Pink" event is set for the Eagle Basketball games with the men's team set to tipoff at 1 p.m. against Samford and the Lady Eagles slated for a 5 p.m. start versus UNC Greensboro. "Pack the House in Pink" is a tribute to all individuals who have lost the battle with breast cancer, those who are currently battling breast cancer, and those who have conquered breast cancer. Activities surrounding the event will focus on raising awareness and funds for the fight against breast cancer and life-saving research.
Hanner Fieldhouse will sport pink decorations and the Georgia Southern coaches, cheerleaders, GUS, the Hoop Troup and Southern Explosion will be outfitted in pink. Fans attending the game will fit in perfectly if they wear pink clothing and items to the game. Also decked out in pink will be the fire truck and police car displayed by the Guardians of the Ribbon Southeast Chapter. Anyone who has lost a loved one from breast cancer is encouraged to sign the fire truck or police car to honor their memory.
The sororities Phi Mu and Zeta Tau Alpha will begin selling pink T-shirts on the GSU campus February 1-3 at the Russell Union rotunda for $12. T-shirts will also be available for purchase prior to the "Pack the House in Pink" game at Hanner Fieldhouse. T-shirts may be also purchased from Jessica Stokes by contacting her via e-mail at js03876@georgiasouthern.edu or Zeta Tau Alpha member.
Phi Mu is also sponsoring a 50/50 raffle with tickets priced at $1 each. One half of the money raised will be donated and the other half awarded to the winning ticket holder at halftime of the Lady Eagles' game. During February 1-3, raffle tickets will be available for sale at the Russell Union rotunda or can be purchased at from any Phi Mu sorority member or by contacting Virginia Stieghan at virginiastieghan@gmail.com.
Fans who arrive early to Hanner Fieldhouse can receive several premium items. The first 150 fans at Hanner Fieldhouse at both games will receive a free pink t-shirt courtesy of The University Store and pink leis will go to the first 1,000 fans of both games. The Chick-fil-A cow will hand out sandwiches and coupons to the first 50 fans.
The Rocket Stars will provide halftime entertainment for the Eagle Men's Basketball game and between games, the promotions will include the Gold Man Cash Giveaway, Verizon Wireless Musical Chairs and the Sir Shop Dress & Dash.
Georgia Southern appreciates the efforts of these groups to make this year's "Pack the House in Pink" event the most successful ever: Statesboro Women's Service League, Colleges Against Cancer, Zeta Tau Alpha, Phi Mu, Guardians of the Ribbon-Southeast, Student Eagle Club, Traditions Council and Rocket Stars.
Single-game tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for children (ages 3-12). A $25 flex package, which includes five tickets that can be used for one game or split among several games. The ticket windows at Hanner Fieldhouse will open at 12 p.m. Hanner Fieldhouse is located at 590 Herty Drive, at the corner of Fair Road (Highway 67) and Herty Drive in Statesboro.
